Acupuncture News

Tuina Friday 26th June

We're holding another Tuina Chinese Massage day at the end of the month.  There are still some early afternoon appointments available if you'd like to give it a try to help move your aches, niggles and pains.  Please call to book in for a £20 taster session.

We get all excited at the first few signs of Spring and then remember that we're allergic to it!
You don't need to rely on drugs to stop your itchy eyes, headache and runny nose, try acupuncture this year.

Battlefield Acupuncture  March 2015

I am really pleased I attended a course this month in Manchester to get to grips with a technique using these tiny semi permanent ear needles to help patients to manage their pain.  We have already had some great results in clinic, reducing pain immediately for patients with headaches; back pain; frozen shoulder; migraine; tennis elbow, neck pain; tonsillitis, carpal tunnel syndrome.....
These needles stimulate the vagus nerve to trigger the release of painkilling endorphins and change the processing of pain in the brain and spinal cords. Research shows that it is capable of alleviating pain in 88% of cases, and the patients in my clinic would certainly agree.

Happy New Year 2015

There seems to be a bit of confusion of the Chinese New Year animal this year.  Is it the Year of the Sheep, Goat or Ram?  The Chinese word is Yang for this year's animal which translates to mean 'horned animal', so you might say that the definition is a bit woolly?!
People born this year are thought to be gentle and kindhearted, with a strong sense for justice and fairness.  They are sociable and creative individuals who enjoy their own company and prefer not to be the centre of attention.  They have a serene and calm nature & tend to have fewer health problems than other people .... so maybe I wont be seeing too many sheep in clinic?   Gung hay fat choy everyone!

"Tuina rocks!"

Tuina is a Chinese massage treatment where the patient remains fully clothed and is covered by a light cotton sheet.  Affected muscles and joints are massaged using a range of techniques to soften muscles, allow blood to flow more easily, and restore range of movement and mobility.
Karen Charlesworth, a Tuina practitioner from York, came over to Shipley last week to treat 8 patients.  The response to Tuina was unanimously positive and so I have arranged that Karen will come over to my clinic on a regular basis and treat existing & new patients.  The next Tuina day is FRIDAY 6th MARCH.  Please contact me if you would like to book an appointment.

Is this happening to you?   January 2015

An increasing number of my patients report that this is happening to them and are so glad that they tried acupuncture to help reduce the number of drugs they have to take.

First Aid Training       December 2014

I have just updated my First Aid certificate and would like to thank Sharon, one of our amazing Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics.  I would highly recommend their training (see www.firstaid-yas.co.uk) whether it's something you have to do for work or would like to learn for yourself how to help save someone's life, it was hands on, practical, thorough and embroidered with a few entertaining tales to keep the class engaged!  Now, of course I'm not expecting to need any first aid in my clinic but I am quite proud of the fact that if someone needed help that I am qualified to step up.

This little diagram has been doing the rounds on Facebook & Twitter.
It's so succinct that I thought I'd share it with you ....

"Awesome"   July 2014

I travelled to Dublin last month to train with Dr Tan, an internationally renowned acupuncturist & founder of the "123 Balance Method".  It was an intensive yet invaluable experience and several of my patients have already benefited from his technique that "switches off the pain".  Responses so far ..... "Awesome", "Incredible" and "You put a needle in my foot and my NECK pain has gone, totally bizarre but thank you!"

Book an appointment, experience acupuncture and 'switch off' your pain!

Get Your Back On Track      August 19th 2103

Woman magazine explains that NHS studies have have reported that acupuncture is effective in relieving chronic back pain. It's not exactly breaking news but good to see the word is being spread.  The National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence (NICE) guidelines on best practice now recommend that GPs offer a course of 10 sessions of acupuncture as a first line treatment for persistent, non-specific low back pain.  Check out the facts here and discuss this with your GP?

I suffered with debilitating headaches for years, I decided to try acupuncture with Louise and I am amazed at the results. I am now medication free and if I do suffer a rare attack Louise is able to relieve the pain.
